In order to put certain things into perspective, I want you to keep in the back of your mind this one fact as I ask you to consider certain other facts: If someone had started giving away a thousand dollars a day on the day Jesus was born (whenever that was, even if it was in 6 BC), that person would still today, in AD 2014, not have given away anywhere near ONE billion dollars. Calculate it however you want, it's a fact. Now, consider:
The people who run this country keep saying, "We're broke." So we can't help our own veterans, seniors, orphans (yeah, I know --- that's a quaint, old-fashioned term), homeless, etc...
BUT, over the last several years we've somehow been able to provide direct cash aid to:
Kazakhstan - $304 M...
Zambia - $331 M...
Hamas - $351 M...
Congo - $359 M...
Russia - $380 M...
Egypt - $397 M...
Nigeria - $456 M...
Tanzania - $554 M...
South Africa - $566 M...
Mexico - $622 M...
Kenya - $816 M...
Sudan - $870 M...
Ethiopia - $981 M...
Iraq - $1.08 B...
Libya - $1.45 B...
Pakistan - $2 B...
...and most of those people still hate us!
But we can't afford to help our retired seniors (yes, I'm one of them!)...nor do they get tax breaks, while our government and private charities send hundreds of billions of dollars and tons of food to foreign countries! BILLIONS of dollars! (DO you remember pondering how much ONE billion dollars is?)
I'm not suggesting for a nanosecond that those poor people in other countries don't need help; but doesn't anyone remember that charity begins AT HOME???
And, please explain to me how it makes sense that...
We have thousands of adoptable American children who are shoved aside to make room for Americans to adopt foreign orphans. Why?
THIS IS 21ST CENTURY AMERICA: A country where we have
Countless people, including veterans, without shelter...
Children going to bed hungry...
Elderly going without needed medication...
and mentally ill without proper treatment...
YET..........
They will have a benefit show for the people of Haiti, on 12 TV stations...
Ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies...
Now just Imagine if the U.S. government gave 'US' the same support they give to foreign countries. Wouldn't that make a big difference, right here at home?
SAD, isn't it?
